In 2008, Government of Nepal announced a launching of a tourism promotional campaign of ‘Nepal Tourism Year 2011’. Nepal government anticipates bringing in at least one million international tourists in the Year of 2011. Preparations have been done accordingly by increasing destinations as well as accommodation. Ministry is optimistic that this kind of events will increase tourist arrival and ultimately will create jobs and reduce poverty. Previous such event was held back in 1998 as ‘Visit Nepal 1998’.
