Goa receives record 27.8 lakh tourists during 2012-13

During 2012-13, Goa received a record 27.8 lakh tourists as compared with 26.7 lakh tourists during 2011-12, an increase of 4.4 per cent, stated a release. The number of foreigners visiting the state during 2012-13 was 4.5 lakh as compared with 4.45 lakh a year ago.

Goa is India's smallest state by area and the fourth smallest by population. Located in West India in the region known as the Konkan, it is bounded by the state of Maharashtra to the north, and by Karnataka to the east and south, while the Arabian Sea forms its western coast. Goa is India's richest state with a GDP per capita two and a half times that of the country as a whole. There are lots of things to do in Goa.
