Americans hold various commemorative activities on the last Monday in May every year, to die for one's country soldier to express grief and respect. The earliest Americans began to hold a Memorial Day activities in more than one hundred years ago during the civil war. Around the same time the church and women's organizations and other non-governmental organizations began to mourn for war soldiers.
