I'm actually going alone, I'll only be meeting my friend on the second week!
I'll be going to Europe this next January (around day 20) and I've currently selected Italy for the first week there!
I'm thinking of going to Rome, but I don't really know anything about it, which is really a problem as I don't even know how to start looking for a hotel. Can anyone give me some tips of where to stay and how to reach the best places? I don't want to stay at a hostel, but I don't want to spend too much money on a fancy hotel either, a 2-3 star one would be great! I'm also going alone, should I spend the whole week at Rome or is there anywhere else I should go?
Also, this will actually be my first time going to Europe and I don't know how easy it is to go around town with public transportation and such. (I've traveled a lot in the Americas though)
And one more thing, I speak Portuguese (I'm brazilian), spanish, english, german and french, and I can understand a bit of italian, should I try to learn some italian anyway before going?
Thanks a lot!
