Thailand tourist VISA and stay

In thailand you can stay 2 months at a time, after that you must travel outside the country and have your passport stamped. Then you can stay another 2 months in thailand. Wonder why they have it that way ?

Do I have incorrect information about the visa and thailand stay please correct me.

I am unsure as to why it would be that way, but other countries have a similar policies as well. I guess they think it will inconvenience you too much and so that way people won't use is as a way to stay illegally.

Non-immigrant visa: Maximum stay 90 days, extension of stay may be applied in Thailand.

Tourist visa: Maximum stay 60 day, extension of stay may be applied in Thailand.

Transit visa: Maximum stay 30 days, extension of stay may be applied in Thailand.
