  • The Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, Tibet

    Jokhang Temple, a Tibetan Buddhism temple, which is one of the national key cultural relic protection units, is located in the centre area of Lhasa. In November, 2000, it became the world cultural heritage as the extended case of the the Potala Palace. It was established 1350 years ago, and owned the sovereign status in the Tibetan Buddhism. It is said that if the ones haven’t been to the Jokhang Temple, he is not really been to Lhasa.
    Jokhang Temple is the existing and glorious building of Tobo dynasty. And it also be the most ancient civil structure building. Its architectural style combines Tibetan, Tang, Nepalese and Indian and is the classical building of the Tibetan religion architecture. Most temples and monasteries in Tibet are belong to a certain denomination of Tibetan Buddhism, but the Jokhang Temple is the holy temple which is consecrated by all denominations. The main palaces of this temple are Sakyamuni Palace, Tsongkhapa Palace, Songtsen Gampo Palace and so on. There are varieties of woodcarving and wall paintings in the temple. It is really a perfect tourist attraction to visit.
