Bamboo Island is a small island, featuring a large, roofless structure that somewhat resembles bamboo. There are a couple of bamboo plants decorating the entrance to the minigame and a small stone walkway. It encompasses a small forest of bamboo inside, which can clearly be seen sprouting out of the top of the structure. Bamboo Island has basic accommodation, with boat trips out there encompassing spots of snorkelling along the way. (Though those who have just arrived from Thailand will be disappointed.) The island is surrounded by clear waters and the bungalows are sweet with shared bathrooms and breezy terraces. There is also a large restaurant.
Bamboo is not larger than you can walk around it in half an hour if you should get bored of snorkeling and relaxing on the beach.
Like at Maya Beach every foreigner have to pay a a National Park entrance fee of 400/200 (adult/children) baht to be allowed to stay on the island. It is just crazy to have to pay 400 baht to set foot on a public beach for a hour or two!
Rough sea can at times make it difficult to reach Bamboo with longtail boat even in high season. Then a larger boat like a speedboat can take you instead if the waves are not too big.
