  • Mountain Biking Advice Needed Thailand?

    Hi,
I am new to travelling in Thailand. I have been doing the guesthouse and local transport thing but it's not active enough for me. I am a keen mountain biker from Yorkshire and I am looking to do a few months on a bike around the country and maybe some mountain bike adventure holidays or tours.

My ideal plan is to have a few guided bike rides here in Bangkok or maybe kanchanaburi and get used to the whole riding on Thai roads thing plus a bit of sightseeing while I'm at it. I know there are a few things to see here in Bangkok like temples and I have heard riding on the long tail boats up and down the Chaopayah river is fun. Also haven't been to Kanchanaburi yet and I would love to Visit the Bridge over The River Kwai and Death Railway. Then I would probably want to hire a bike and head off up to Chiang Mai and do some mountain bike downhill trips up there down Doi Pui or Chiang Dao.

Has anybody on here heard of Khao I-to I found the following company offering singletrack trips in Prachinburi at a place called Khao I-to and had wondered if anybody knew it.

Mountain Biking Thailand, Singletrack, Downhill, Cycling Trips, Bangkok, Kanchanaburi and Chiang Mai

Think this may also be the same company but not enquired yet was waiting for some info off readers on here.

Mountain Bike Tours Thailand, Downhill Single Track Biking Trips, Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Nothern Thailand

    Central Thailand Single Track

Went on the Khao I-to single track trip with these guys on Friday. Was a great introduction ride for me. It had some amazing single track and a nice 5km downhill section.

Renting a bike off them because so far I haven't managed to beat their prices going up to Chiang Mai on the train next week to do some of their downhill trips. Then will cycle back to Bangkok and so some sighteeing trips here and maybe the Khao I-to one again - addicted ha ha.

I absolutely agree that Chiang Mai is a very good choice for biking. There are many operators here to service and plan your biking route.

There will be an "International Mountain Biking Tour 2008" in Chiang Rai soon. The trip will start from Chiang Rai to China.
