  • Montreal vacations - need some suggestions on the trip.

Hello everyone, we are a young group of students and are planning to visit Montreal for a change as part of our vacation plan. We have gathered the necessary information about the place and have a schedule for the trip. But, we would like to take any last minute advices if possible to make sure everything is covered. Please provide us with your suggestions on this.

That is just great! Montreal is a great city to spend your vacations and welcomes visitors at their best. The city offers some good places to visit and has locations of varied interests. Old Montreal is a great place to visit and the historic city centre is rich in museums, shops, restaurants and grey stone architecture spread out along narrow, cobblestone streets. It is also home to the Vieux Port attractions and lively public squares like Place Jacques-Cartier.

I'm from Montreal and i would be happy to give you some Montreal musts. Depending on when, there are many activities in the city.

      Musts:
      - Old Montreal: terrace, girls, shopping. During the summer, Café des Éclusiers is very popular!!
      - Schwartz: They serve a unique smoked meat, unlike you ever tested. It's one of the oldest restaurants in mtl (i think never renovated, small, special!) really a must! Lineups at midnight for great food!
      - Ile Saint-Helene: is where Expo 67 was, and is now where they hosted Formula 1 and Nascar, during the summer, when there is no race, ou can rent roller blades or a bike and circle the circuit, have a pic-nic, there's also beach with an artificial lake... Nice people there too!
      - Casino: The casion is known to be one of the nicest casinos in the world, and it's on the same island as the racing circuit, so make a stop!
      - Football: Always very fin to go see the Alouettes, go Als!!
      - If you go soon, maybe catch hockey fever. But a tip, very soon because i don't think the habs won't last long in playoffs, i hope but... ;-)

Try to let me know when you will go and your tastes, there is the Jazz festival, comedy festival, fireworks competition... All outside activities for you to enjoy!

      Enjoy!

Don't forget to check out St.Laurent Street for the bars and pubs.

St. Catherine street is great for shopping. Almost all of the malls are connected underground.

I remember this great restaurant called Eduardos that was SO affordable and so delicious. I believe it was on Duluth street. If my memory services me, the kitchen is staffed by culinary students so you get gourmet food at student prices.

All true! Note that on Duluth street, there are tons of great restaurants!

The restaurant 'Les Infideles' is one one my favorite restaurants in Montreal, and i beleive it's on Duluth. They serve a 5 service @ 50$, bring your wine, call to make a reservation, they only have about 10 tables!

They are frequently listed as one of Montreal's top 10 places to eat

          Enjoy!

Springs in Montreal going to be awesome and best way to enjoy your vacation as well as to save your money. Some of its area is French where you can get delicious french food, so try to be familiar with french language. Many hot spots are at walking distance, so you can save your few bugs on that also. Tucked into the Laurentians, Saint-Sauveur is a solid option for anyone looking to escape to the mountains for the weekend. The charming resort town is popular come wintertime among skiers due to its proximity to the mountains.
