  • Train vs. car Edinburgh to London

My family of 5 will be going from Edinburgh to York, Cambridge, and then London in December. I know we do not want the hassle of parking a car in London. But my question: are the main sights to see in these cities within walking distance of the train stations or should we rent a car for more flexiblity (and a place to store our luggage)? We do not want to waste valuable daylight hours waiting for busses but gas is quite expensive and cars are pretty small. Anyone know how long the drive vs. train ride? And how does the expense compare?

Hiring a car would be cheaper in my opinion, depending on the number of people in the party. Plus, you can stop wherever you want when driving!

In my opinion, hiring a car is the best option for you because you are more than 6 members, so it is definitely cheaper than train. Hiring a car will save your time as well as provides you the great level of comfort in your traveling.
