How are the beaches and climate in Israel during the summer?

I might have a chance to tag along with some friends sometime in the next couple years for a visit to Israel. Their family is mostly conservative Judaism thought a few of us aren't religious so I'm wondering if I don't see any value in visiting certain sites for faith reasons would I still enjoy the beaches and nightlife around Israel, especially Haifa?
