Gerrard st east downtown Toronto .... good location?

Hey my friend is visting Toronto in July for two weeks. She is realy looking forward to it.She is Staying in downtown Toronto in a Guest house in Gerrard st east.
Is this a good location? and is it within walking distance from main attractions? Really appreciate any info thanks
